Bowflex on Ebay?

Question: I see Bowflex available on eBay. Would you recommend buying one there?

There are perks to buying your Bowflex straight from the company.  You can get exactly the model you want with the attachments you want, and if something breaks during shipping or after you receive your Bowflex, you've got a warranty. They also give you a money back guarantee option where you have a month to see if you're happy with your Bowflex. The downside to buying from the company is it can take a few weeks for your Bowflex to arrive.

If money is tight or you simply can't wait, eBay is certainly an option. You need to be wary, though. eBay is very much a "let the buyer beware" kind of place, and when you're talking about spending $1000.00 on a Bowflex, you want to make sure you're buying from an experienced seller with a good reputation (mucho positive feedback) and preferably someone who has sold exercise equipment like Bowflex before (Let's face it, a Bowflex is a tad more complicated to pack and ship than a book). You can find this information out by checking the user's feedback (the number next user ID). Once you're on that page, click through their recent feedback and see what they sold and if the customer was happy with their purchase. Never consider buying your Bowflex (or anything over $5.00 for that matter) from someone with 0 feedback.

When you find a Bowflex you'd like to bid on, make sure to read the auction description very carefully. You may want to ask for pictures or a detailed description if they aren't already included. Make sure shipping is reasonable (probably $100-150 for the lower 48 states). If you're patient, you may be able to find one for sale locally that you can pick up to bypass the shipping costs. Make sure the seller accepts the kind of payment you want to use.

If it all checks out, make your bid. Just be careful in the excitement that you don't end up paying more than you would for a new model at the Bowflex site. Good luck, and come back and tell us about your experience.
