Bowflex for Women?
Q: Is Bowflex good for women, too? Bowflex is good for both men and women. Even if you don't want to "bulk up" you should be doing resistance training anyway because it increases bone density which will help fight off osteoporosis as you get older. Q: I don't want to get muscle bound... Women aren't built like men. Lifting weights or using Bowflex isn't going to turn you into the Incredible Hulk. All it will do is make you a little leaner and stronger. Don't be too afraid of those muscles, however. Remember, muscle burns calories even at rest whereas fat just sits there. Q: I've tried free weights and I really hate them. Is Bowflex easier? There are no weights to move on and off bars. Adjusting the resistance is very easy, and there's no chance of dropping bars or weights on your toes. Q: I'm not young anymore, and I'm worried about injuries. My 60 year old mother uses a Bowflex Motivator. She swears by Bowflex and Oxycise for keeping fit and trim. When she was working with the machines at the gym, she was having trouble with her joints, especially her wrists. Since switching to Bowflex, she's had a lot less pain, and she's been able to work her muscles harder than she could on the regular gym equipment. This is not to say Bowflex is some kind of cure all, but it's definitely feasible for users of any age.
