Bowflex & the Body for Life DietBowflex World: First off, can you tell us what the Body for Life program is? Chad: Basically, you start off with a 12 week challenge where you eat six nutritious meals a day, strength train 3x20 minutes a week, and do cardio 3x20 minutes a week. There's a little more to it than that, but you might want to look at the Body for Life Book for the details. Bowflex World: It sounds similar to the Bowflex Diet. Do you think the Body for Life program is better? Chad: It's not really a matter of better or worse so much as taking something and sticking to it. Bowflex World: Good point. So, you're using Bowflex for the strength training portion of the program? Chad: Yes. Traditionally, with Body for Life, you go to the gym and work out with free weights. I'm a single dad with two young kids and a full-time web business. It was hard to find time to get to the gym, so the Bowflex was the ideal solution. Bowflex World: Do you find your Bowflex works as well as the free weights? Chad: It's working really well for me. I got the Bowflex Ultimate with all the bells and whistles, and it pretty much does everything I was doing at the gym. I'm seeing the same kind of results as others I know doing Body for Life. I used to like going to the gym and throwing around the weights in college, but now it's more about convenience. Bowflex World: How long have you been on the program? How are the results? Chad: About five months now. I saw the biggest results in the first three months (lost 30 pounds and saw muscle definition for the first time in years), but I'm still making gains. My abs are starting to poke out. Bowflex World: Congratulations, that's great. Do you have a favorite Bowflex exercise? Chad: I'm going to be uncreative and say the bench press. I always liked it with the barbells as opposed to the bar, but because you use pretty heavy weights on that, it never felt that safe in the gym, even with a spotter. Bowflex makes it easy. |
